The article examines the formation of Mykhailo Havrylko as a national artist, conscious Ukrainian citizen, beginnings his revolutionary activities, fascination with creative works and liberating ideas Taras Shevchenko, ardent desire to embody image Kobzar in sculpture. Emphasis is placed on «burning hatred» young artist towards despised Russian autocracy, participation organization Sich Riflemen Legion at beginning World War I. cultural educational work sculptor among prisoners war Fraystadt camp highlighted, well uncompromising stance issues, sharp confrontation Muscovites their actions propaganda prisoners. patriot combat within ranks Rifl emens, including battles various fronts Galicia, Press Quarter Riflemen, highlighted.
